I try my best to be eco-friendly, especially when I'm cleaning. Growing up, my home was always ueber-clean. I buy almost no brand name cleaning products. But my two favorite things to use are pretty simple. For disinfecting and bug control (ah, city apartment living), I put rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle along with a bunch of drops of tea tree oil and peppermint oil (...thank you to a neighbor who let me in on the trick to add both!). I spray along my door frames and knobs, along the kitchen cabinet floors, and in the dishwasher when not in use. If you know what a cave cricket is (and I'm sorry if you do too), it works on those "interesting" creatures too.
Pretty much everything in the kitchen gets sprayed down and cleaned with white vinegar and lemon juice. I actually leave the old lemon (there's a use for those!) in the spray bottle as it disintegrates into the vinegar. I don't know if that's the ideal way, but it's working for me and takes away the overbearing smell of the vinegar.
And the lint tape roll? Well, this one I picked up from somewhere I can't remember, or I would gladly add an acknowledgement. Use those sticky sheets to clean window screens if you can't completely take them out and spray them clean. It's fast and pretty effective. Not as good as a thorough wash, but a pretty good hack to take at least some of the schmutz off :)
